About Norwalk Community Health Center
NCHC is a nonprofit healthcare provider that has not stopped growing, since our earliest days in 1999, to meet the expanding and evolving needs of our patients and the community.
More than 12,000 men, women, and children entrust their care to Norwalk Community Health Center. An independent nonprofit healthcare provider, it opened in 1999 and remains a safety net for 15% of greater Norwalk men, women, and children, including those who are uninsured, underinsured or otherwise unable to find health care within reach.
Over the last 26 years it has evolved into a nationally recognized continuum of care organization and provider of choice for pediatric, women’s reproductive, adult, behavioral, and adult and pediatric-dental health, school-based, mobile, and wellness services. Our commitment to the greater Norwalk and Fairfield County community includes partnering and collaborating with organizations, agencies and grass roots groups to break down barriers , improve access and provide the highest quality care within reach of all.
Norwalk Community Health Center is a Federally Qualified Health Center.
Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) is a community-based clinic that receives part of its operating budget from federal funding to provide comprehensive, high-quality primary care services to underserved, low-income, uninsured, or vulnerable populations. FQHCs must serve high-need areas, offer sliding-scale fees based on ability to pay, and are governed by a patient-majority board.
